Member guide

If you've been invited to a MemberDex community by your organization, this is everything you need to know.

Install the app

Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for MemberDex. Tap Get to install. The app is free; the cost of running the directory is paid by your community.

You can also tap the invite link your community admin sent you. iPhone will offer to install the app, then automatically open it once installed.

Accept your invite

The invite email contains a one-time link tied to your email address. Tap it from your iPhone. The MemberDex app opens, asks you to set a password, and pairs your account to your community.

If you didn't get an invite email, ask your community admin to resend it. They have a "Resend Invitations" button on their dashboard.

Sign in

Tap Log In on the welcome screen and enter the email your community admin used and the password you just set. If your admin enabled MFA for members, you'll be prompted for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

To explore without signing in, tap Try a Demo on the welcome screen. Demo mode uses sample data and never touches your real community.

Browse the directory

The Directory tab is the main view. Search by name, business, or any custom field your community uses. Tap a row to open a member's profile.

From a profile you can tap the phone icon to call, the message icon to text, the envelope to email, the globe to open their website, or the pin to get directions in Apple Maps.

Update your profile

Tap My Profile in the tab bar, then tap Edit. Update your name, photo, phone, email, website, and any custom fields your community uses. Tap Save when done.

You can change your photo from your iPhone photo library. The MemberDex app uses Apple's photo picker, so it only sees the photo you select.

Separate from your iPhone contacts

MemberDex is a self-contained rolodex. The community directory lives inside the MemberDex app — it is never copied into your iPhone Contacts list, and the app never asks for address-book access. When you tap a member to call or text, iOS handles the call as a one-off; nothing is added to your personal phone book.

If you leave the community or uninstall the app, your personal contacts are untouched.

Offline mode

Once you've signed in once, the directory is cached locally. You can look up members anywhere — at the marina, the parish hall, or a hike — even without a signal. Photos may take a moment to load if they weren't pre-cached.

Switching between communities

If you're a member of multiple MemberDex communities, you'll see a community switcher at the top of the directory. Tap to switch. Each community keeps its own branding and member list.

Privacy

MemberDex doesn't include any tracking or analytics SDKs. Your data is sent over HTTPS to your community's cloud service and stored securely. Authentication tokens live in your iPhone's Keychain. Read the full privacy policy for details.

Deleting your account

To delete your account, contact your community admin. They can remove your profile entirely or soft-deactivate it. Uninstalling the app removes all locally cached data from your phone, but your profile stays in the directory until your admin removes it.

Trouble logging in

Forgot your password? Tap "Forgot password" on the login screen and check your email. If you've been deactivated by your community admin, you'll see a clear message — reach out to them to be reactivated.
